136. What Have We Forgotten?

Perhaps it is rude,
But I must know: what have we
Forgotten as one?

Another take on Renan.

135. Impermanence Mk II

This precise instant
Born now, won't return again.
Embrace it right: now!

Ref. to 54.

134. Precipice Mk III

Days flit past the cliff's
Edge, fading into the gorge,
Falling from warm sun.

Hard to get this all in there.

133. Precipice Mk II

Flat light over flat land
Time fades into the gorge; days
Rush past the cliff's edge.

I think that is a little better.

For some reason I wanted to use words about smell and heat of time. Interesting.

132. Precipice

Stand in the light at
The top of time's dizzy serac
Stand between the darks.

Trying to get the sense of the vertiginous nature of great swaths of time that one gets at places like Rocamadour.

I may need to start writing longer forms again.

131. Imagined Community

We share ideas;
We share pains that some forget;
We look to sun's rise.

Now, the essence of a nation is that all its people have a great deal in common, and also that they have forgotten a great deal. -Ernest Renan, 1882

130. Life and SuperMax

Always tunneling,
Breaking free of restraint and
Cutting through concrete.
