106. The Black Wave Tumbler

On the Fox News site
You can order a No Spin
Zone Black Wave Tumbler.

Ok, so it's not really a haiku, except structurally. I jsut thought this was funny. I envision a Black Wave of "No Spin" emanating from Fox and O'Reilly - reeking, putrescent, and black.

(I'm not a fan.)

105. New Warm Socks

My girlfriend got some
Bright, woolen socks and
She's prancing around.

104. Light Dusting of Snow

Snow is amazing.
It's soft, cold, silent, noisy.
It swirls and covers.

I'm warming up again - haven't written any of these for a while.

103. Sweet Kiss

I got a sweet kiss
On my neck as I wrote the
Last poem. Ahh, good.

102. Choosing

I'm making the best
Choices I can, but it's like
Catching moths at night.

How's that for a metaphor?

101. Snow and Lounging Day

We are just sitting
Around, writing poems and
Updating MySpace.

Not at the same time, however.

100. Okay, Now for Something Completely Different . . .

Whenever I read
The news, there's always some new
Outrage thanks to Bush.

It's really kinda getting me down.

99. More Politix

Studies show that if
You go quail hunting with a
Dumb ass, you get shot.

A little harsh maybe, but since the victim apologized for putting his face in the way of Cheney's birdshot, I guess this isn't so much of an issue.

98. Double Trouble

Watching the news is
So infuriating now -
Dubya is so dumb.

97. Mild Headache

I've been trying to figure
Out whether or not I can
Stop using caffeine.

So far, the answer is no.

96. Efficiency

When one starts small, one
Can find small efficiencies
What if one starts big?

95. Light and Shade

Cool, blue, and open
To light streaming from the south
From the sun, gold light.

Haha!

94. January Is Not Usually This Warm

It's winter, but I
Can walk around outside in
Jeans and a thin shirt.

What the heck is up with this weather, anyway?

93. Who Can Say?

All these things that I
Do, who does them and what do
They mean anyway?

92. Past, Present, Future

Past, present, future
All rose, rise, and shall rise from
This breath and heartbeat.

Not really sure what that one means but I like it. It's something about living in the moment.

91. What Are the Other Rules? Do I Even Want to Learn Them?

I know only the
Most basic of the rules of
Haiku - should I learn more?

I know that there are supposed to be certain types of tropes running through haiku writing, but it's not clear to me that I should embrace those tropes at this time.

90. Focus on Philosophy

The limitations
Of this form enable it
To clearly state thoughts.

88. Word Choice

Choosing to limit
Myself to a strict structure
Makes me choose good words.

87. Restrictions and Creativity

Limited, sparse, pure
Forms help me focus my mind
On small peaceful thoughts.

86. Living in the Present Poem

I've always thought that
Haiku would be a good form
To practice for health.

Studies show your mental health improves if you write a truckload of haiku.

85. Writing Haiku About Investing and Real Estate

There is something with
My current pastimes
That does not transfer.

84. Flew Out To Santa Monica

Where did my Santa
Monica poems disappear
To - I wrote some there.

83. Holidays And Business

Business is well named
It always seems like there is
Something else to do.

Prioritizing has made haiku-writing suffer some.

82. Slacked Off Again

Thirty-two haiku
To catch up to where I want
To be - now is good.

You only really have the present moment. What are you doing now?
